"Sempre Vive" Always Alive!
Our more than quarter-century old vines lie in the Napa Valley, south of nine acres of reservoirs sandwiched between two forested knolls. These geographic conditions lead to hot days, cool nights and an extremely long hang-time in our Calistoga vineyard. This allows our grapes to develop full flavors, deep color, and intense complexity. Our thick, gnarled old vines produce from their hearts. The vines live on in our wine…Bud to flower to berry to wine…Sempre Vive!

~ 2002 Sempre Vive Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon ~
(Alcohol 14.40%)

By Romeo Vineyards
Sempre Vive 2002

Tasting Notes: Nose is elegant and evolved, some roasty character, but definitely ripe Cabernet. Palate is elegant and spicy, evolved and graceful, but still has lively acidity.

Harvest Notes: 2002 was a long, relaxed season. Some early hot spells called for some thinning, but ripening was steady and Brix hit 23.5 at harvest in early October. These are our "Old Vines," still on AXR1 and they can hit full balance and maturity at lower Brix than the new generation of clones and rootstalks.

Technical Notes:
Harvest Date: October 7th, 2002
Blend: Cabernet Sauvignon & Petit Verdot
Barrel Aging: 20 months in 50% new French oak: Seguin Moreau

~ 2003 Sempre Vive Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon ~
(Alcohol 14.50%)

By Romeo Vineyards
Sempre Vive 2003

Tasting Notes: Nose is cheerful, young and fruity, with cherry and currant notes. The palate is very round and savory, with velvety, tasty flavors of current fruit and cassis.

Harvest Notes: 2003 was a great season, with April rains to give our dry-farmed block one more chance at filling up, and a nice warm spell at the end of the season to make sure the grapes had some concentration. These are our "Old Vines," still on AXR1 and they can hit full balance and maturity at lower Brix than the new generation of clones and rootstalks.

Technical Notes:
Harvest Date: October 17th, 2003
Blend: Cabernet Sauvignon & Petit Verdot
Barrel Aging: 18 months in 50% new French oak: Seguin Moreau & Francoise Freres

~ 2004 Sempre Vive Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Old Vine ~
(Alcohol 14.50%)

By Romeo Vineyards
Sempre Vive 2004

Tasting Notes: Nose is very elegant with some caramel and baked cherry pie. Palate is long and evolved, with lovely balanced berry and sandalwood flavors, and a long finish.

Harvest Notes: 2004 was a short, tough year for fine wines, with late rains in spring, a few frosts and a cool summer. This in no way prepared the vines for three hot spells that hit in September; the first short, the second longer and the third almost three weeks of unremitting heat. We have a lot of water trapped in the vineyard and this kept the vines respirating and ripening their fruit and tannins.

Technical Notes:
Harvest Date: September 23rd, 2004
Blend: Cabernet Sauvignon & Petit Verdot
Barrel Aging: 18 months in 50% new French oak: Seguin Moreau & Remond Ailliers
Release Date: June 1st, 2008
Cases Produced: 750
Size: 750.00 ml
Wine Maker: Alison Doran

~ 2005 Sempre Vive Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Old Vine ~
(Alcohol 14.80%)

By Romeo Vineyards
Sempre Vive 2005

Tasting Notes: Nose has spicy, almost musky notes and takes a few minutes to unwind to a more elegant "European" type bouquet. Palate though is youthful and bouncy, with plenty of berry and cherry supported by nice acidity and light tannin.

Harvest Notes: 2005 was a long, cool season, and then it rained. Our vineyard up near Calistoga had an advantage in being a bit warmer than most of Napa, and the year there was more promising than most places.

Technical Notes:
Harvest Date: October 17th, 2005
Blend: Cabernet Sauvignon & Petit Verdot
Barrel Aging: 19 months in 50% new French oak: Seguin Moreau, Remond Ailliers & Demptos
Release Date: June 1st, 2009
Cases Produced: 1589
Size: 750.00 ml
Wine Maker: Alison Doran

~ 2006 Sempre Vive Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Old Vine ~
(Alcohol 13.70%)

By Romeo Vineyards
Sempre Vive 2006

Tasting Notes: Nose: light, floaty violets and spicy plum pudding. Palate: ripe and gentle with a soft, velvety palate. Violets and some black cherry flavors lead to a rich, savory finish with a soft, evolved expression.

Harvest Notes: 2006 was a cool season with roller-coaster hot spells in the fall, and the Old Vines had some uneven ripening, with some clusters still green and raisining. These had to be cut off, reducing quantities, but there was plenty of time for the other clusters to ripen perfectly.

Technical Notes:
Harvest Date: October 18th, 2006
Blend: Cabernet Sauvignon & Petit Verdot
Barrel Aging: 18 months in 63% new French oak: Seguin Moreau, Remond Ailliers, Demptos & Sylvain
Release Date: June 1st, 2010
Cases Produced: 1525
